A mild haze clings to the surfaces of all three silver issues within this wholly original 1938 United States proof set. The Jefferson nickel offers a gunmetal grey allure while the Lincoln cent boasts a fiery red color that sets it above the majority of examples for this year of issue! All five of these examples are nicely housed inside of a Capital plastics holder and ready for a new home (ck).

While common even at MS-67, a crisply struck and dazzling quarter-eagle will always be a treat for the eyes when competently graded, as is the case here. Sparkling luster dance around the results of a high-definition strike to great advantage. Varieties have not been well studied for the series but the cataloger notes some "stuff" within zero of the date that could be of interest.
