  • Lot #625 - Nineteen Morgan dollars
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • Copeland Society Consignment. Gem Uncirculated examples litter this nineteen-coin group lot of Morgan silver dollars that have been “graded” by NTC, PCI, and CRC. Ther is a beautiful mixture of gorgeously toned and blast white examples that have all been assigned lofty grades that most would consider a bit too high based on current grading standards. Included in this eye catching group lot are the following issues: an 1879-O PCI MS-65, an 1880-O NTC MS-65, an 1880-S NTC MS-68, an 1881-O NTC MS-66, an 1882-O NTC MS-65, an 1883-O NTC MS-67, an 1884-O NTC MS-67, an 1885-O NTC MS-67, an 1887-O NTC MS-66, an 1888-O NTC MS-66, an 1889-O CRC MS-63, an 1891-O NTC MS-65, an 1898-O NTC MS-66, an 1899-O NTC MS-67, a 1900-O NTC MS-67, a 1901-O NTC MS-67, a 1902-O NTC MS-67, a 1904-O NTC MS-67, and a 1921 NTC MS-67. While these are not correctly graded the overall quality of these coins are far above average and would certainly help to fill in a high-end album collection (ck).

  • Lot #365 - 1859 Old Reverse - Type 1 NGC MS-60
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • The reverse die seen on this type-1 example, with larger arrowheads, was discarded in 1859 for subsequent strikings of type-2 quarter-eagles. Here is a rather delightful example given the basal and severely underutilized mint-state grade of MS-60, showing unexpectedly nice multihued golden color and no evidence of circulation. Simple bag storage apparently accounts for the trivial flaws and delicate abrasions seen throughout.
