Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
FS-301. Perhaps because of the inherent cost of collecting gold coins, varieties are sorely underappreciated, but 1899/899 is one of the best available to collectors and this appears to be an earlier die-state example. The extra loop left of the "8" is plainly visible with a loupe -- some examples of the same repunched date really only show the extra outlines left of the 9s.

Dino-Mite Collection. Crystal-bright appearance for both obverse and reverse gains a bit more contrast between Liberty's snow-white portrait and the surrounding shimmering mirrors. The reverse has a nice die crack at 10:00 while on the obverse, a tiny strikethrough thread can be seen at Liberty's temple.
