  • Lot #559 - 1914-S NGC MS-63
  • Hammer: $2,800
  • Gold $20-Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
  • Aliyah Darnell Collection. Minor variety: a boldly raised die-line crosses over the rays left of Liberty's gown. The cataloger has noted this obverse die before and gut feel is that it comprises perhaps ten percent of 1914-S Saints? At any rate, a lustrous yet somehow slightly subdued example with a typically slightly soft strike.

  • Lot #794 - 1940-S MS-67 FB, and a 1945-S MS-67, both NGC
  • Hammer: $400
  • Dimes-Mercury
  • Clem Stevens Collection. Superb gem examples also see good strikes, although only 1940-S has an "FB" designation. This coin features remarkable ruby-violet and coral-gold toning that must be seen to be believed. Accompanying is 1945-S for which either side receives a broad splash of Pacific-blue color joining crimson-gold lowlights. Two coin lot.
