Gorgeous mother-of-pearl dominates the entire surface, accented by intriguing lines of russet-grey toning on the obverse and wider splashes of the same rouge hue on the reverse. The obverse right field completely evades contact marks.

At first glance, the quality seems much superior to MS-62, and even careful scrutiny will find only the most trivial abrasions, about the size of flea specks. MS-64 almost seems like a possibility until one discovers light hairlines erratically scattered within the fields, albeit they are clearly toned down by the attractive yellow-gold color. Almost fully struck and showing a nice, sharp "D" mintmark on the reverse.
