  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • Brilliant, bright, and beautiful adequately describes all seven examples within this group lot of Morgan silver dollars. Three of these issues are PCGS certified and includes an 1881-S MS-65, an 1885-O MS-66 (lime green label), and an 1888-O MS-65 (OGH). The remaining four examples are NGC certified as MS-65 and includes an 1882-S, an 1885, an 1887, and an 1899-O. Primarily this lot is all white with only the 1885 showing an attractive display of russet and purple toning near the peripheries (ck).

  • Mintage: 3000. Offenses off of two of the star's points lead directly to the PCGS disclaimer, which is unfortunate. Quality on balance might otherwise approach the choice level due in part to vintage patina.

  • Scott Laiter Collection. The Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award seems fitting for a coin that may not be necessarily inexpensive, yet still can be easy to underestimate. In this particular instance, the cataloger cannot recall seeing another example that displays such an eye-catching amount of color compressed into such a tiny presentation, especially for a relatively mundane grade. Color runs the gamut of peach-green, sunset-yellow and lavender-orange mixed throughout. Further, quality seems at worst on-par with MS-64 as the surface reveals no singularly noticeable abrasions.
