  • Lot #850 - 1880 AG
  • Hammer: $1,000
  • Nickels-Shield
  • Inland Delude Collection. Mintage: 16,000. Well-known as an extremely difficult date within the series, the allure of this heavily worn example will be particularly strong for low-ball set collectors who should be able to get it certified right off. IN GOD WE TRUST barely shows only the lower parts of the letters while the date remains plain. Better sharpness shows on the reverse, as is typical for work shield nickels.

  • Lot #852 - 1860 NGC MS-66
  • Hammer: $2,100
  • Small Cents-Indian Head
  • 38 graded MS-66, 6 higher at NGC. Both sides have been handsomely well taken care of for this very gem cent, struck on the doorstep of the Civil War. Impeccable color takes on flashing yellowish accents under some lighting angles and a good loupe reveals a stone-cold four-diamond strike despite a small die crack at 8:00 on the reverse.
