Medium intensity Arctic-blue patina gathers in some lovely magenta-orange accents atop high relief areas of the design. Utterly extraordinary is the extent to which the obverse die shows a substantial broken area at upper left. At some point, this area may have broken away to create a massive cud; the cataloger is well-tempted to call this a "retained cud" example. A smaller rim cud also rests at 8:00 and there could be others; get this coin out of this edge-obscuring slab pronto! Being not particularly gifted in numismatic study, the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award is intended here to draw attention to a special nickel well worth the trouble of review by a specialist. Astonishing!

At the center, an approximate .85 ct. old European cut round diamond sparkles along with an estimated .25ct old European cut at the bottom with more small round diamonds surrounding the two. The piece is suspended from a 14K 18” cable chain that secures with a lobster clasp. Dimensions: 1.25 x .50”, 2.4 dwt.
