  • Lot #763 - 1861-O WB-103, Confederate Issue, PCGS MS-61
  • Half Dollars-Liberty Seated
  • WB-103. PCGS did not recognize the "bisected date" which might have quickly led to realization that this half-dollar was struck under authority of the Confederacy after the New Orleans mint was seized at the beginning of the Civil War. Although graded only MS-61, both sides exhibit charmingly vibrant luster. Ref: A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties, Bill Bugert.

Each year of issue from 1950 through 1963 is represented and primarily in old green holders. A few of the later issues appear to be Cameo examples but it was not designated on the label (ck).
