  • Laidlaw#0094, mintage: 1000 for the three-medal set. Two-medal sets were also issued and are more common. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953, the historic event marked by striking of this trio of coronation medals, obverse engraved by Thomas Humphrey Paget. They were originally issued as a set of three and would have been received in an oblong, blue mint South Africa Mint case; alas the case is not available here although the silver example plainly shows toning induced by vintage storage.
