Zee's Densities Collection. Impairments place a damper on this 3-dollar duo, but how often does one find an auction lot with two certified examples? Included are: 1854 (delicate hairlines subtly traverse the lower portrait, erasing a few contact marks), and 1874 (glittering brightly as is typical of previously edge-mounted examples). Collectors of the series are not wont to underestimate the difficulty of locating a nice, very-good 1916-D dime with no problems. This example, slightly glossy on the obverse but showing rich dove-grey patina on the reverse, boasts strong, fully rims and portions of the vertical lines within the fasces. A very difficult example that clearly spent decades within an old Whitman (or similar) "thumb-buster" coin folder.
