During the Civil War, paper was a scarcely found source in the Confederate south. As such, any paper documents from this time period and geographic location are very hard to find and rarely see the open market. Two such pieces known as “Confederate Certificates” makes up this scarcely seen lot that includes a $1,000 and an even scarcer $100,000 cert. Circa 1950/1960 this unknown maker Old Pawn sterling silver (tested) turquoise squash blossom necklace features turquoise cabs that look like they might be from the Fox Mine of Nevada. The necklace has a five stone Naja pendant and 10 blossoms. The reverse of the Naja is inscribed with what we believe to be a pawnbroker’s numbers, which is rare to find. The necklace is in excellent condition with vintage patina. Length 26”, 6.64 troy ounces.
