Large Cents-Liberty Cap
Sheldon-24 "apple cheek", die-state IV, showing faint obverse die-cracks -- one that lollipops "L" in LIBERTY and another joining the bust to the rim just right of the "4". Steadfast clay-brown patina consistently layers both sides, interrupted on the obverse by several trivial, darker deposits and on the reverse by some planchet voids present before the cent was struck. Undoubtedly, the surface was lovingly oiled at one time, relieving a whisper of brown from AMERICA.
