Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Cheddars de Voirs Collection. 23 graded MS-62, 8 higher at NGC. Impressively struck for an 1870s emission despite some light peripheral die cracks on the reverse. A condition rarity, as is much of the gold series from the 1860s and 1870s, time has been relatively kind to this very select example, replete with unconventionally attractive two-toned medium orange hue. Fleeting hairlines skate over slightly flashy fields, accounted for in the grade.

Fair luster shows beneath splashes of tobacco-gold toing and a surprising amount of powdery carbon toward the upper obverse. Typically struck for the date, the hand meshes right into Liberty's torso and the eagle's trailing leg displays scarcely any internal definition at all.

Recovered from the sunken Spanish galleon, the Santa Margarita this 8 Reale coin of Philip III is set into a 14K and sterling silver bezel. The bezel features a scene of a dolphin and a patch of seaweed. This does come with a certificate of authenticity from Mel Fishers’s Treasures, LLC. with a grade of four.
