  • Lot #395 - 1834 Classic, Plain 4 PCGS AU-55
  • Hammer: $1,500
  • Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
  • McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

  • Lot #593 - 1880-CC GSA NGC MS-63
  • Hammer: $625
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • VAM-10 with the wormlike thread on Liberty's upper lip. Very decently struck except directly over the ear, the fields show a fair amount of flashing character, but generate not quite enough contrast for special designation. Light amber toning clings to the lower left rim.
