  • Lot #824 - 1833 NGC MS-62
  • Hammer: $1,050
  • Dimes-Capped Bust
  • JR-5, one of the common and well produced die-marriages for the Capped Bust dime series. Exquisite details received an amazing strike from the dies, also creating very decent cartwheel luster gleaming from the bright surfaces. Very few trivial sliding abrasions from past storage probably deny a truly choice grade assessment, but most collectors will see ample quality for only MS-62.

  • Lot #773 - 1827/7 PCGS MS-62
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Dimes-Capped Bust
  • JR-1, 1827/7 and often incorrectly referenced as "1827/5". These appear to be early dies, lacking any evidence of clashmarks, nor had any die breaks formed yet on the reverse when this dime was struck. Dynamic, jewel-like luster blows up the obverse eye-appeal but this is quickly offset by isolated surface damage "OF A" on the reverse.
