There are nine examples of this short-lived series in this group lot that includes the following: an 1876 (AU details, cleaned), 4x 1877 (XF), 3x 1877-S (XF details, cleaned), and an 1878-S (F). KM#377.2, Chihuahua mint. Struck in the usual medallic alignment, this intriguing example shows curiously bright surfaces and an extensive array of adjustment marks at the far right edge. So deep are the file lines that they caused the reverse design to be indistinct in the corresponding area. A much tougher early issue within the series.
