  • Lot #687 - 1890-CC and 1895-S, as described
  • Hammer: $750
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • 101st Airborne Collection. A pair of semi-key Morgan dollars have recently been upgraded in the consignor's collection. First is 1895-S, cataloger's grade: [VF/improperly toned], powdered in greyish salmon and mauve toning and showing barely enough sharpness to meet very-fine standards. Accompanying is 1890-CC, cataloger's grade [XF-40] and showing rather pleasing bluish-grey and Pacific-blue hues that suggest album toning, although it is possible the coin was prior dipped. Two coin lot.

  • Lot #3 - Roman Empire - Brutus (44-42 BC) stater - NGC Choice Uncirculated
  • Hammer: $2,100
  • Ancient Coins-Roman Empire
  • Pacific Coast Highway Collection. OBV: Roman consul walking left accompanied by two lictors. REV: eagle facing left stands on scepter clutching laurel wreath in right talon. That ancient technology was capable of such detail on both sides of a coin nearly defies belief. While struck perhaps 15% off-center, the flan still somehow received flowline effect very much similar to modern cartwheel luster.
