  • Lot #395 - 1834 Classic, Plain 4 PCGS AU-55
  • Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
  • McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

  • Lemonade Stand Collection. KM#A92, Zacatecas mint. A one-year type, this royalist issue features a relatively small rendition of Ferdinand VII on the obverse and the usual crown with pillars on the reverse. Smooth, honest wear shows nicely over this powder-grey representative, and unlike many on the market, there are no defects or abnormalities to be found.
