Silver Dollar-Morgan
Copeland Society Consignment. Cataloger's grade: [MS-62]. The innovative INS slab includes a photo of the coin that helps attest to its consistent appearance over several decades, this example showing slightly faint luster but also nicely vintage surfaces overall. The reverse displays crumbles of rim toning all the way around, reminiscent of album placement, while the obverse appears mostly brilliant with a slightly abraded cheek and trivial luster grazes within the fields.

1853 is a year replete with a nice variety of type coins, most of them approachable including the 1853 gold dollar. Opulent, velvety sheen and a delightful strike contribute to visual appeal, the only detriment (that the cataloger could find) being a few trivial hairlines sweeping across the portrait.
