Each member of the quartet of Morgan silver dollars is a truly Gem example with two examples being 1880-S NGC MS-65’s that boast blast white fields that are nearly proof-like and free from any noticeable distractions. The remaining two examples are in “rattler” style PCGS holders and includes an 1881-S MS-65 and an 1884 MS-64PL. A crescent shaped swatch of rainbow style toning adheres to the upper reaches of the reverse of the 1884 giving it a truly undeniably attractive appeal (ck)!

Lot #871 - 1909-S VDB Lincoln PCGS MS-64RB CAC

Growth Collection. There was a phase about ten years ago when MS-64 RB was considered "best" for the 1909-S VDB in terms of bang for the buck, and perhaps that holds true today. This example certainly seems on the verge of a red designation as either side gleams with 85% of the vintage brick-orange hue. Interestingly, this key cent was possibly struck off of a very slightly clipped planchet, since what appears to be a trio of tiny rim dings at first glance prove, upon closer inspection, to be almost certainly as-struck. An exceptionally detailed Lincoln cent with virtually no disturbances that would meaningfully preclude higher grade consideration.
