  • Lot #879 - 1819 9 Over (8) Large Date and an 1820 Large Date
  • Hammer: $1,075
  • Large Cents-Liberty Head
  • Somewhat better grade, earlier middle-date cents make this a pair to view with eagerness, complete with consignor attribution. First is 1819/(8), N-2, fabulously original and showing very few greenish crumbles at the cataloger's grade of [XF-40]. Accompanying is a familiar 1820, N-13 Randall hoard example which, though not original, shows somewhat interesting purplish and violet hues at the cataloger's grade of [AU-58/altered color]. Two coin lot.

  • Lot #430 - 1873 Closed 3 PCGS MS-62
  • Hammer: $1,300
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Sharp and free from singularly distracting marks, the surface overall merely takes on a lot of tiny bag abrasions that lead to the grade. Surprisingly pale copper-gold undertones contrast with yellowish hues that predominate everywhere else.
