Fortunately for type collectors, the three-dollar gold series has a couple of common dates that also happen to be well produced, as shown by this very choice 1878. Billowing copper-gold luster thoroughly energizes both sides of this dynamic coin, and some subtle violet areas may be copper spots. Only very light abrasions affect either side, with not even a single moderate or major contact mark to be found.

From Tiffany’s Black Box Collection, here’s a custom made 14K yellow gold and black onyx tie tack/tie pin. In a circular design, the original clutch is also present. Inscribed jewelers mark of 46111. Somewhere in the Tiffany Archives, the company knows exactly who this piece was designed for and when it was made. Cool thought! This piece comes with the orginal box. Excellent condition.
