Judd-1772, R.6+ and extremely rare in any state of preservation. It appears that perhaps as few as 40 unique grading events have occurred between the major services over the past forty years. Pollock lists four different aluminum alloys, but no metallurgical analysis has been indicated on the CAC slab. Extensive hairlines appear to represent die polish but the planchet allow shows some anomalies lower left of the shield and a small planchet flake far left on the reverse.

This is a sparsely populated run of Capped Bust and Liberty seated half-dimes that are nicely stored in a near mint condition Dansco album. Included in this run is an 1840 Drapery (VF), an 1841-O Drapery (Vg, bent), an 1842 (XF+), an 1851 (AU), an 1852 (XF), an 1853 Arrows (AU), an 1854 (XF), and 1854-O (XF), an 1861 (XF), an 1862 (XF), and an 1871-S (XF). May be a perfect entering point for someone attempting to collect this scarce type in an affordable manner (ck).
