  • Copeland Society Consignment. Cataloger's grade: [AU-58]. Exceptionally close to mint-state, especially as robust olive-gold and orange-purple toning tends to downplay finger friction with the fields. Slight rub on the cheek and eagle's breast speak to brief introduction to the channels of commerce. Linear abrasions can be found in the field beneath Liberty's chin.

The dies, polished not long before striking, could not bring out every possible detail but there are no overly weak areas. One moderate nick above the eagle is the only abrasion worth mentioning.

The gemstone is copper and manganese bearing which may be called “Paraiba” in the trade and has a beautiful electric greenish-blue color. Length 18”, 1.1 dwt.
