Mintage: 16,013. Splendidly original . Mere mention of "1859 eagle" rarely inspires visions of scarcity, but a very low emission leads to some well bounded populations at either service today. Fabulous, fine-matte texture endows this coin with outstanding eye-appeal. Scarcely any major abrasions at all can be found, but a subtle sliding abrasion rises from the eagle's back, and a small depression shows in the lowest feathers of the headdress. Very few trivial surface grazes show on the obverse. A delightful example of a coin that suddenly becomes rare at the next grade level.
