KM#Y544, L&M-1042. Taiwan. Struck to commemorate the eightieth birthday of Chiang Kai-shek, leader of the Republic of China for almost fifty years. Attractive and delightfully original, the chin shows evidence of faint pre-strike abrasions in the presence of lovely, satin-smooth luster.

Mild friction in the fields indicates light wear overall, while protected areas retain ample energy. Even at arm's length, both sides revolve nicely with cartwheel effect, especially the reverse. While 1890-CC frequently comes heavily abraded, this appears to be a nicer, less noisy example that does nothing but please the eye at the AU-50 grade.
