M. J. Shole Collection. A single submission to PCGS decades ago yielded choice 1924 double-eagles now offered as a single lot. In serial-number order are: first example blanketed in powdery greyish-golden hue and a very good strike; second example glowing with pristine vibrancy and an adequate array of minor bagmarks; and a third example also bathed in slightly hazy powder sheen. VAM-14. While a thinly doubled profile is one characteristic of this VAM, a more telltale pickup point should be the way a reverse die crack traverses "ED ST" through the wing tip. A choice white example with a very good strike, the present 1890-CC features substantially less abrading of the cheek than usual, but does show delicate planchet striations over and through Liberty's ear.
