  • Lot #882 - 1821 XF/scratched
  • Hammer: $750
  • Large Cents-Liberty Head
  • Newcomb-2, and unusual for the date in that a very good quality planchet managed to evade the environmental effects commonly seen for 1821. What was not avoided was some mishandling during commerce that imparted a pinscratch in front of the nose and a handful more vague hairline-thin abrasions on the portrait. Fortunately, surprisingly decent eye-appeal carries the day and suggests to the cataloger an EAC estimate of F15.

  • Hammer: $625
  • Hawaii Issues-Hawaii Issues
  • Luxurious pearl-grey and frosty chartreuse toward the upper periphery declare a fully original surface for the obverse, while the reverse simmers nicely beneath exquisite midnight-purple and violet hues. The coin appears to be exceptionally well struck and the only visible detriment is a small area of abrasions intruding into the obverse right field.
