Lot #452 - 1839 Head of 1838 NGC AU-58
Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
27 graded AU-58, 13 higher at NGC. 1839/8, large letters, and variously referred to as the "head of 1838". Marvelously sharp overall for an 1830s gold piece, even if the obverse stars display only minimal sharpness. Only limited cartwheel effect is able to project through light mustard-gold patina yet very little actual wear affects major details. Delicate marks fall across both sides, joined by a few mentionable light rim dings on the reverse.

Bucky The Badger Consignment. Undoubtedly vibrant for a small cent given a "BN" designation -- not to mention merely MS-63 as the technical grade. Infused overall with honey-brown hue, the obverse shimmers with additional sky-blue accents while the reverse enjoys splashes of deep violet. Undoubtedly a premium quality doubled-die for the assigned PCGS grade.
