Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). K.R. Consignment. HB-50, EP-6, R.6. JOSEPH L BATES / FANCY GOODS / 129 WASHINGTON St / BOSTON. Cataloger's grade: [very-fine] at the bare minimum. Possibly choice due to lovely, even powdery brass patina, the eye-appeal is improved a little by the stamp being better centered than some; U.S. POSTAGE is mostly legible beneath the upper rim of the encasing. All Joseph Bates encased stamps are rare, the 1-cent pieces being the only reasonably collectable denomination. Quality of the original mica is quite outstanding for the type, showing a faint hairline scratch but minimum visual impediments otherwise.

Circa 1960/1970, this overly large sterling silver (tested, not marked) and chrysocolla squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and a 7-stone Naja at the bottom. With an overly bold design, the stone used in the making emulates a darker grade of turquoise than usually found in this type of necklace. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Unsigned piece so tribal affiliation is unknown. Length 26”, 8.40 troy ounces.
