  • Lot #640 - 1878-CC PCGS MS-63PL (green label)
  • Hammer: $1,150
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • VAM-22, a lesser VAM for 1878-CC characterized by die chips within each "C" of the mintmark. With well over 2-million struck, 1878-CC is not rare in almost any grade, but the prooflike designation adds a lot of appeal to a well struck, vintage example like this. Hints of lovely russet-gold surround both sides, accenting fair cameo frost floating within nice, semi-watery mirrors.

  • Lot #405 - 1854-O NGC AU details/cleaned
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Gold $3-Indian Princess Head
  • Philatelists rejoice! Strangely, both the three-dollar gold princess and three-cent silver were actually issued to make easy the purchase of United States postage stamps, which were three cents and came in sheets of one hundred. Less than 25,000 minted in New Orleans for the inaugural year of issue.
