  • Ba-Ga Maidi Collection. KM#720.3, Strasbourg mint, Charles X. PCGS sees this as the finest known example and for sure, the quality is almost that of a modern production. Luxurious turquoise-blue and cinnamon-purple lines the obverse left margin and presents a splashy appearance through most of the reverse inner periphery. Numerous adjustment marks may have played into grade consideration, but this amazingly lustrous coin will command maximum interest.

  • Lot #36 - German East Africa - 1891 1/4 rupie - NGC MS-66
  • Hammer: $425
  • World Coins-German East Africa
  • Pacific Coast Highway Collection. KM#3, Berlin mint. The first year of the type also claims the lowest mintage (77-thouand), although the survival rate for 1891 seems fairly high given the availability. Pearl grey embraces the surface, relieved by occasional golden crimson splashes.
