Evidence for prior use as "jewelry" seem scant to nonexistent as a couple of small compression areas on the edge could just as well be attributed to minor mishandling. That said, surfaces are certainly well cleaned and exhibit slightly granular texture under a loupe.

Struck-through obverse, although the slab makes no mention of what appears to have been a partial drop of water that affected texture over a large swath of the lower obverse. Furthermore, both dies show obvious evidence of cracking, which helps explain a slightly deficient strike. A highly intriguing key date very seldom found at or near the choice grade level.
