Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
Research by Carson City mint expert Rusty Goe suggest a slim population of 1872-CC double eagles survive in PCGS’s and NGC’s certified registry; between 375 and 475 pieces. This was clearly an issue dominated by regional circulation and international bank storage. A comparatively moderate production number of nearly 27 thousand, compared to other CC productions, has yielded the aforementioned survival numbers. If fact, only about a two-dozen 1872-CC Mint State pieces survive in entirety. (CE)

Included are: 1925-S (not that well struck yet strongly lustrous and showing a fair number of small abrasions), 1927-S (luster slightly diminished by smoke-grey patina), and 1928-S (showing choice brilliance and strike but affected by a significant number of small, dashed abrasions). Three coin lot.
