Unquestionably original, splotches of camouflage-patterned multi-coloration overlays the underlying smooth glaze indicative of proof issues. Even still, PCGS seemed slightly generous with the grade as some areas of contact exist, and eye appeal presents as selectively attractive. (CE)

80 graded MS-65 DMPL, 29 higher at PCGS. Highly appealing and struck rather well, this dramatic example does not have the deepest possible mirrors, but contrast aplenty beckons from both sides. The 1898 is one of the less common DMPL emissions and even those so-designated seem to have weaker cameo effect than other dates within the series. Both sides are wonderfully exempt from abrasions.
