  • Lot #395 - 1834 Classic, Plain 4 PCGS AU-55
  • Hammer: $1,500
  • Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
  • McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

  • Lot #491 - 1932 NGC MS-65
  • Hammer: $2,500
  • Gold $10-Indian Head Eagle
  • A smooth, nearly matte brightness characteristic of the $10 Indian gold type lunges through the holder. Extremely fine die striations neatly coat fields. A series of nicks are present, most noticeable on face and eagle wings.
