The 1885 is one of those key dates that seems highly available in low grades (think AG to VG), locatable in high grade (Choice BU and up), but about impossible to find in grades between those two extremes. Along comes this ideally graded AU-50 that boasts absolutely extraordinary, vintage medium-grey color and fair luster that should combine to push the high bids to the upper limit for the grade.
