A case can certainly be made for selecting a pair of New Orleans gold dollars like these that come close to mint-state without requiring one to follow the lottery. Included are: 1849-O (sunny bright obverse mated to a reverse with a splash of patina) and 1852-O (smoothly attractive and showing very faint wear to create a pleasing, choice presentation). Two coin lot
