Paisley Brayden Hunter Collection. Misplaced or blundered date (?). Apparently, the trace of a digit exists in the denticles beneath each of "8" and "7" in the date, although the cataloger could not find mention in any references. Exceedingly bright as if heavily dipped, yet both sides are fully lustrous and obviously qualify for mint-state status. Roll friction slides into the obverse fields without breaking through flowline luster. A few trivial rim nicks show on the upper reverse.

Lot #700 - 1921 Peace, High Relief NGC MS-66+

13 graded MS-66+, 8 higher at NGC. The mintage of a million pieces does little to describe why the 1921 is so common near basal mint-state grades yet profoundly scarce at the superb gem grade level, a grade for which this tremendously vigorous example clamors. The strike falls decidedly into the "better-than-average" category but as always for the high-relief 1921s, it is hopelessly incomplete at the centers. Adorable almond-yellow patina absolutely blossoms across both sides and takes full advantage of marvelous, satin-matte surfaces that are hardly ever disturbed by contact. Any abrasions found with a loupe prove to be minuscule and utterly innocuous to the eye-appeal.
