Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
Cheddars de Voirs Collection. Rather astonishing is a pair of better double-eagles, certified and offered here as a single lot. Frist is 1873 "open 3" (strongly frosted luster and delightfully struck but inevitably showing overall small bagmarks. Accompanying is 1873-S "closed 3" with decent obverse peripheral luster and substantial, twirling luster on the reverse. Two coin lot.

Clem Stevens Collection. An obverse die polished not long before striking created a semblance of semi-prooflike character on that side, adjoined to a typically lustrous reverse. An extremely bright Denver emission not always found struck as well as this razor-sharp dreamboat.
