Possibly a coin once taped into an album (but backwards, evidently), the reverse displays a broad swath of swirling orange-sherbet tone while the obverse partially reverses the same toning pattern. The strike, as usual for 1900-S, features unassuming details nearer the center, especially where individual strands of hair cannot be found across the ear. Roaring windmill luster for this better date.

Absolutely contact-free, smooth and fully struck, Liberty's cheek ticks off the top of the want list for a Morgan dollar nearing perfection in terms of grade. Astoundingly, so common is the 1879-S that even at this lofty grade level, the population report is not worth denoting, but for an "ultimate" kind of type collector, the outrageous late-die frosted luster and ridiculously sharp strike both satisfy the most demanding collector.
