Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

Land And Home Collection. Hodder 2-D, Breen-190, R.6+. The "Godless" LON DON variety is much scarcer than the more often encountered GOD PRESERVE LONDON varieties. The surface of this wallet-brown example has a somewhat dry appearance but has no curious discolorations. Several tiny, curious pockmarks dot the elephant side, while the reverse shows no unexpected contact.
