Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

Scott Laiter Collection. Although thousands of 1891-CC tens exist today in certified mint-state grade (out of a mintage of over 100-thousand pieces), the date remains very popular with collectors and has shown little sign of price softness in current markets. Here is a rock-solid MS-62 example that triumphs with booming luster and a sharp, near-complete strike. Quality gets marred only by a fair number of the minute abrasions typical of the grade, but not a'one requires special mention.

Recovered from the sunken Spanish galleon, the Santa Margarita this 8 Reale coin of Philip III is set into a 14K and sterling silver bezel. The bezel features a scene of a dolphin and a patch of seaweed. This does come with a certificate of authenticity from Mel Fishers’s Treasures, LLC. with a grade of four.
