  • Lot #600 - Four chop marked Trade dollars
  • Hammer: $1,050
  • Silver Dollar-Trade Dollars
  • Judo chop! The Trade silver dollar was designed and distributed by the United States Mint in an attempt to compete with other countries ‘trade” silver coins that were being used in East Asia. As a result, these were very commonly “chop marked” as a practice of authentication. Four such examples come together to make this group lot that includes an 1874-S and 3x 1875-S issues. Each of these displays various chop marks with lightly cleaned fields and Almost Uncirculated details (ck).

  • Lot #773 - 1827/7 PCGS MS-62
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Dimes-Capped Bust
  • JR-1, 1827/7 and often incorrectly referenced as "1827/5". These appear to be early dies, lacking any evidence of clashmarks, nor had any die breaks formed yet on the reverse when this dime was struck. Dynamic, jewel-like luster blows up the obverse eye-appeal but this is quickly offset by isolated surface damage "OF A" on the reverse.
