Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Cheddars de Voirs Collection. 16 graded AU-53, 29 higher at NGC. In a down year for gold, like 1873, San Francisco struck only 31-thousand half-eagles, accounting for a low number of high-grade survivors. The casually worn surface here shows a few more tiny marks than typical, but ample luster brings the grade near the choice level. Attractive, subtle steely green and khaki-gold predominate.

Land And Home Collection. Hodder 2-D, Breen-190, R.6+. The "Godless" LON DON variety is much scarcer than the more often encountered GOD PRESERVE LONDON varieties. The surface of this wallet-brown example has a somewhat dry appearance but has no curious discolorations. Several tiny, curious pockmarks dot the elephant side, while the reverse shows no unexpected contact.
