  • Lot #603 - 1878-S Trade PCGS MS-61 (green label)
  • Hammer: $1,000
  • Silver Dollar-Trade Dollars
  • M. J. Shole Collection. Type II / II. Obviously original almost to an extreme degree, dense iron-grey patina occupies virtually the entire surface, avoiding trace areas of shimmering, lustrous effect immediately against the devices. A delicate pinscratch in the obverse left field has blended in with that overarching patina. An extremely well detailed example.

  • Lot #844 - 1843 Petite Head - Small Letters NGC MS-61 BN
  • Hammer: $675
  • Large Cents-Braided Hair
  • Newcomb-9, a somewhat common die-marriage that can show up in various interesting die-states. The NGC insert covers up a portion of the rim where a small cud eventually develops but it isn't readily apparent in this instance. The glossy ebony-brown surface is actually not as unattractive as is often implied by the MS-61 numeric grade level, and neither side displays much by way of contact.
