Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
A stately example from the end of the Civil War, the surface glows with soft radiance impaired by only a whisper of abrading within all fields. Brighter golden-yellow surfaces manage to evade major contact marks -- not all that common for large gold coins of this vintage. Sharply struck off of dies showing a light clash on Liberty's central portrait.

Very well defined on both sides, almost to the point of being fully struck. Ample luster shimmers beneath an exceedingly thin layer of haze, helping to smooth over widespread, superficial abrasions.

This cute little pair includes an 18K yellow gold oversized fly pin with two cabochon turquoise stones and the smaller 14K yellow gold bee companion has dark blue sapphire accents. Our little fly measures just over 1” long and weighs 6.9 dwt while the bee is closer to .75” and weighs 1.5 dwt.
