US Currency-National Bank Notes
The First National Bank of Stewartsville, Missouri. Neat, precisely handwritten signatures for President Samuel Bauer and female assistant cashier Nell Snow adorn the front of this plainback. Notable is that Snow wrote "asst" beneath her signature as seems to have been the case for all of these Dekalb County notes. Paper remains utterly brilliant and not molested, while three margins -- left, bottom, right -- are large and the top margin appears . . . scissors trimmed? Ample intrigue makes this note an outstanding recipient for the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.

VAM-2. Unusually white, almost to a chalky degree, the surface exhibits only glimmers of protected luster just within the obverse rims while the reverse continues to display a fair degree of cartwheel effect. While strongly detailed throughout, the eagle's breast and Liberty's major curls are noticeably flattened by circulation but broad details elsewhere are only briefly touched by wear.
