Silver Dollar-Morgan
VAM-2 has dropping letters in the mintmark. While population reports record thousands of 1893-CC silver dollars certified in UNC grade, we know these numbers must be inflated because the date has always been very elusive above MS-60. Here is a splendid, very choice example of this always-sought key issue, offering eggshell-white patina and an astonishing array of lustrous beams emanating from the surface. The date is well known for troublesome strikes and even this above-average example lacks a bit of sharpness over the ear. On the reverse, impressively sharp, full breast and wing feathers greet the eye. Liberty's cheek appears almost perfectly clean without a loupe though closer examination reveals a microscopic nick or two as well as a handful of exquisitely fine hairlines.

Cataloger's grade: [XF-40]. Sharpness actually reaches five points higher but a handful of slightly more noticeable blemishes land on the cheek and two brief but shiny pinscratches rest left of the eagle's portrait. The reverse was undoubtedly fully prooflike and the obverse semi-prooflike when struck, with modest circulation removing some overall luster.

Lot #309 - Native American Squash Blossom

Circa 1960/1970 and signed by Bobby Thompson of the Navajo nation, this sterling silver (tested, not marked) and turquoise squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and a 5-stone Naja at the bottom. The turquoise cabs are set in a shadow box setting and while most of the background has been blackened nicely, a couple panels need a touch up of color. The turquoise used in the making appears to be from the Sleeping Beauty mine. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Length 30”, 5.54 troy ounces
